This used to be the most common route for visiting Sittong, but a few landslides in the Karmat area, and poor road conditions have made this route less popular now.

Route 2: Siliguri – Birik– Latpanchar – Sittong

• Distance: Approximately 57 km

• Highlights: Scenic views of the Teesta River and Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. This route also offers a picturesque journey through Kalijhora and Latpanchar.

This road goes further from Kalijhora to a place called Birik Dara and rides uphill from here. This road is more stable and in better shape.

Route 3: Siliguri – Mongpu – Sittong

• Distance: Approximately 60 km

• Distance: Approximately 60 km

• Highlights: This route will take you to Sittong through Mongpu, you may visit the Rabindra Bhawan of Mongpu on this route.

Route 4: Siliguri – Kurseong – Dilaram – Bagora – Sittong

• Distance: Approximately 60 km

• Travel Time: Around 3 to 3.5 hours

• Highlights: Experience the tea gardens and rolling hills of Kurseong. This route is slightly longer but gives travellers a chance to visit Kurseong, an enchanting town with its colonial charm and misty ambience.

Challenges of Driving to Sittong

Steep Terrain: The road to Sittong is steep and winding in several sections, especially during the last phase of the journey. Drivers need to be cautious, especially during monsoon months when landslides and slippery roads are more frequent.
